Bug in Firebug with Firefox 2.0.0.12

Saturday, February 16th, 2008 (4 months, 3 weeks ago)

With the latest stable version of Firefox and Firebug (1.0.5), I’ve been having problems when inspecting anchor tags. The CSS/styles set for anchors don’t display in Firebug’s window. It just shows the styles for body or other parent elements of the link.

As a temporary fix, I’ve installed a beta version of Firebug, which is available here. It’s up to you whether inspecting a link’s CSS is important enough to run the beta version of Firebug.

And yes, doing “website stuff” is one of the main reasons I never write anymore.

LAUNCH: QN5 Blog

Monday, October 2nd, 2006 (1 year, 9 months ago)

A project I was helping with just went live: the QN5 Blog. It’s written by the artists of QN5 Music, an independent hip-hop record label (of which I’m a big fan, so it was great to be able to hook them up with a site and design). Tell your good ol’ pals all about it!

CunninLynguists design good music

Saturday, October 15th, 2005 (2 years, 8 months ago)

For the CunninLynguists fans that aren’t checking their official site or forums every now and then: Their next CD, A Piece Of Strange is now up for pre-order. This is their limited advance release — their worldwide release will be January 24th, 2006.

The album features guest appearances by Cee-Lo Green, Immortal Technique and Tonedeff and is completely produced by (one of the best producers in the game) Kno. Definitely not something you’ll want to miss. The track, “Caved In” from the CD is available for download on their website, so go take a listen if you haven’t heard of them, yet.

If none of that makes you want to visit their official site, then go check it to see the design I did.

Budget crisis

Tuesday, August 26th, 2003 (4 years, 10 months ago)

I’ve been frequenting message boards for website designers and I see a lot of designers asking potential clients, “What’s your budget?”. That’s when people should know these guys are trying to rip them off.

My opinion is this: the potential client either has the money to hire a designer or they don’t. I’ve never been asked what my budget is when I went to go buy a burger or rent a movie: I either had the money or the gun and ski mask or I didn’t get what I wanted.

Put your requirement into retirement

Saturday, July 19th, 2003 (4 years, 11 months ago)

I was browsing some new website designs that people had made and I actually came across yet another page that lists a bunch of requirements before you can actually enter their website. And of course, where would a teen website be without some sort of notice that says an “open mind” is required…

Maybe the people creating these crap-ass websites with stupid disclaimers should get an open mind— and while they’re at it, a creative one— instead of just copying something that’s been done on about ten thousand other websites, about five years ago.

Viewers don’t need an “open mind” to view these websites because they’ve seen them thousands of times before. Believe me, there’s nothing that these open-mind-required websites have to offer that hasn’t been offered by others.
