My name’s Buck…

Friday, April 16th, 2004 (4 years, 7 months ago)

The second volume of Kill Bill is finally here. I guess a lot of people will be heading to the theatres this weekend. I’ll be watching it in about two weeks when my girlfriend flies in. (Who says romance is dead?)

I wonder how DVD sales of Kill Bill: Volume 1 are doing. It seems like many people (myself included) are saving their money for when Volume 2 is released on DVD and the studios get around to making the Kill Bill: Super Sexy Special Edition Ultra 100% DVD.

I would think that if the movie studios really wanted to profit off these DVD sales, they could have included something useful on the first release of Kill Bill: Volume 1. But there’s close to no extra features on it! People who are expecting another (better) release of the DVDs just can’t justify purchasing the first release. Have a contest, throw in some scandalous pictures, autograph it, or anything!

The thought of buying the DVD entered my mind for about two seconds and then it was gone. And not (just) because I forget about stuff…

Singled out

Wednesday, December 17th, 2003 (4 years, 11 months ago)

For those that think Hov’ fingers bling bling’n
Either haven’t heard the album or they don’t know english
They only know what the single is, and singled that out
to be the meaning of what he’s about

(From Jay-Z’s “The Bounce”). Rap music isn’t all about hot chicks and jewelry and money. Listen to the rest of the artist’s album before you say they suck or they ONLY rap about a certain thing.

Jay-Z has released at least nine full albums and that doesn’t even include all the songs that he’s been featured in with other artists. How can he make that many songs all about Girls, Girls, Girls?

Since I’m usually asking for suggestions for good music or where to find this/that, I’ll provide a good song for you to listen to:

“Meet the Parents” by Jay-Z. It’s from the 2nd disc of his Blueprint 2 CD and he’s telling a story about a kid and his mother. Super quick summary: The mother has a one night stand with a man, who left her pregnant and then fourteen years later, her son is now a gangster (just like his father, who he’s only seen as an infant). One night, the boy stops his father because he’s walking on his territory, and they pull out guns on each other.

Mr. Rhee’s unsolved mysteries

On the side, I’m trying to find out solutions for two life problems: High prices for college text books and crap-ass cellphone service. I’m still working on a solution for that first one, but I have some ideas about how to bring bad cellphone service providors to their knees on a friday night. Hopefully these ideas will actually get off the ground in the near future.

I still don’t own a cellphone and I hope to never have the need for one. Maybe I’ll cave in and have one for emergencies in case I decide to go climbing up a mountain for fun and realize that I shouldn’t try to reach the top of anything without an elevator, but for the most part, I think all of those companies shit on their customers’ heads while demanding thanks for the hat.

If people are going to get screwed with a two year contract, they should have every single piece of buying information presented to them upfront, instead of getting surprised with a “Oops, our service doesn’t work if you’re standing next to anything made out of cement or anything that contains water!” message.

Yes, my girlfriend has to call me from a hot air balloon, while staying far enough away from those water-containing clouds to get decent reception on her AT&T cellphone. It was even worse last year when hot air balloon rental prices were at record highs.
