Apparently the new trend for marketing campaigns is to combine words together to create one word. The bad thing is that a lot of commercials that make use of this trend try to make it seem funny and clever… I’m sure you’ve seen some of them. I seriously change the channel when they start to play.

  • Taco Bell has “smunchy” (Soft + Melty + Crunchy)
  • MB Financial Bank has “betsimpsier” (Better + Simpler + Easier)
  • Some new TV show that I forgot the name of has “laundrary” (Laundry + Library)
  • Another thing I forgot has “linner”/”lunner” (Lunch + Dinner)

That’s it, I’m starting my own ad agency. Especially if the slogans and punchlines could have been made up by high school kids ten years ago (and not high school kids as in: 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade… I mean high school kids). I can get a whole super army of a marketing team together if that’s the type of stuff companies are looking for. Yodel at me, Corporation CEOs!

iBought

My new iPod is sonnerific To conclude my previous post, iDrop, I bought a new iPod and took some pictures (one and two).

I’m still not sure what to do with my older iPod. It turns out that my sister got herself a different MP3 player already. Maybe I’ll just frame it on my wall and let it haunt me for the rest of my days…

Plug! I’m getting used to the color screen of the new iPod — It’s hard to read the screen unless the backlight is on — and now I’m saving up money for some more music to feed my hungry MP3 player. It’s not even half full and I think I hear growling at night.

And for anyone wondering (like I was when I bought it): The 60GB iPod Photo doesn’t fit in my old 40GB iPod’s dock. It’s too damn fat. Maybe I shouldn’t feed it.

Earlier today, I dropped my 40Gb iPod and now the screen is pretty much ruined (it’s still usable, but parts of it are blank and the LCD is cracked). Now I’m wondering what to do with this 40Gb iPod…

I’m tempted to just buy the new 60Gb model that has a color screen, photo capabilities, 3 hours more battery life, etc., but I’m pretty sure that the only thing wrong with the iPod I own now is the screen (which will cost a bit over $150 to fix).

I’m thinking about having my current iPod fixed and giving it to my sister or my girlfriend (who would probably put it to better use than my little sister).

All I know for sure is that I’m a damn music fiend. Seconds after breaking the screen, I was thinking about getting a replacement (screen or iPod) as soon as possible.

Official websites

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005 (3 years, 6 months ago)

I would think that it’s kind of lame to have an official website that isn’t the best website for the topic. I see this a lot with official celebrity websites — the unofficial websites created and maintained by fans are far more extensive, have more content and are updated much more frequently. And a lot of times, the fan-maintained websites don’t even create any profit. And they definitely don’t get any website development payments from the celebrities. They’re simply doing it for the love.

I guess you can file this under the, “Money doesn’t always compare to the drive/motivation of passion” category.
