Moving boxes

Friday, March 4th, 2005

Sometime tonight or early Saturday morning, I’ll be hauling the many websites I host to a new (and better) server. This is mostly in anticipation of a new website that I’m working on, which will benefit from the extra power of this new server. So hopefully everything will be sorted out by Saturday night, but it could take until Monday– it all depends on how smoothly the transfer goes and how much time I have to spend fixing things.

The next post I make will hopefully be something along the lines of, “The server move was gracefully executed and there were no problems”…

At least he got his remasters degree

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005

I haven’t seen this being promoted so I thought I’d post about it. Kanye West has released a remastered version of his debut LP, The College Dropout. If you’re one of the many people who bootlegged the original, I’d recommend that you at least pick up this copy. There are no new tracks, it’s just been remastered and the artwork is different (the new cover has a white background).

I have a hard time believing that only 2.5 million people heard the original version– but that’s how many copies were sold. So if you enjoyed the album, pick this up this remastered version. It’ll help secure a future for better hip hop in the mainstream. He proved that major record labels can release an album that’s not completely about… what a lot of other mainstream songs are about. And that the public will like it.

He’s not my favorite rapper, but I do enjoy his music and it’s a big step away from the wrong direction. His singles included, “Through The Wire”, “All Falls Down”, and “Jesus Walks”. They don’t really fit the mold for album singles, but it was still done and the public seemed to like it.

So pick up a copy. (And you can expect at least one post like this every month or two.)
