Excuse my excuses

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004 (3 years, 8 months ago)

I seem to be a lot less productive whenever my girlfriend is around, which might explain the absence of posts the past few days. It’s just like whenever we get lost on the road– It’s not my fault.

What the hell kind of post is this?

Birds are entangled by their feet and men by their tongues.

What the hell kind of fortune is this? Looks like the Fortune Cookie Writers Guild is letting ANYONE in. I wonder how good the pay is.

I’m Chris Rhee, and I approved this ad

If you picked up a copy of the NY Times today, you may have noticed a two-page advertisement for Firefox, an open-source web browser that kicks all types of ass. One page of the advertisement lists 10,000 names of people that contributed money to get the advertisement in the newspaper– my name is in there, listed in alphabetical order by last name. Look for the name, “Chris Rhee”, and tell your best friend that you’re his biggest fan.

Since I’m posting this pretty late in the day, if you didn’t pick up your copy of the NY Times already, you probably won’t get a chance to. So here are some images and the PDF file of the two-page advertisement:

If you’re reading this website using Internet Explorer, I’ll withold the name calling and just inform you that there are much better browser choices out there. Firefox is one of the best choices, in my opinion.

Even Homer Simpson is smart enough to use a browser that supports tabbed browsing (one of Firefox’s many features). Are you really going to be out-smarted by Homer Simpson?

An outrage!

I guess there’s no easy way to break the news, so here goes: Crunch bars no longer come wrapped in aluminum foil! The Crunch bar that I grew up with has changed to regular plastic packaging just like almost every other type of candy bar. Blasphemy.

I don’t know how long it’s been since they made the switch, but be sure to write to your congress men & women (and Nestle) about how the aluminum foil and paper wrapper packaging makes the chocolate taste better.

Speaking of childhood junk food… why is Pepsi Clear still not being re-made? Maybe it’s just my nostalgic memory talking, but that was the best drink, ever.

(Yes, I feel like an old man for posting about how things were “back in the day”.)

Hey, be a man!

Image of shirtsI recently bought some new shirts (you can see a small version of each shirt’s print in the image to the right). I’m slowly moving towards buying shirts that actually have something on it, rather than having five hundred one-color shirts in various shades of blue– or if I feel like being crazy: some stripes.

The first three shirts, I got from Threadless. The design names are (in order from top to bottom): “Death by music”, “Shadow bunny”, and “Choice” (I think all the designs I got are sold out, but you can request a reprint or look around to see if you like any of their other shirts). The fourth shirt, I got from RapMusic, and it has the logo for the rapper, tonedeff.

My girlfriend had some things to say about guys wearing shirts that have pictures of little girls on them, but I’m fairly secure in my masculinity– even though it was kind of weird that it was my own girlfriend telling me about it…

I have to say, I’m liking the idea of wearing shirts that people can’t easily buy from their local shop.

I thought that maybe within a year, the way I dress might have changed drastically, but looking at the last four shirts I bought, they’re all still shades of blue, grey, and khaki… So I guess I haven’t changed all that much.

Slightly off topic: I’ve updated the about page with new pictures and some updated information. I’d like to provide more details about what sort of information has been updated, but I haven’t changed anything, yet. That’s right, I’m writing this post before I actually do any of the work. But, you can view the two newly added pictures right now:

Note: If the second picture is mysteriously taken off the website within the next few hours, it’s because my girlfriend woke up and put a gun to my head. Also, in addition to rocking a tonedeff shirt in the first picture, which has a nice QN5 logo on the left sleeve, I’m also rocking a manly non-smile for picture purposes.
