I got my hands on an invite to beta test GMail, so I’ll be using chrisrhee@gmail.com for my personal email for now. I’ve only used it a little bit today, to send emails to my girlfriend, but so far it seems like a really great service. Other email providers better be devising plans on how to compete…
On a side note: I started coding the new design for this website today (on my Apple PowerBook, so I could get used to working on it). I estimate it’ll be up within a week or so. I might be re-doing the back-end of this website and switching from Movable Type to something else.
This is the first post on this website brought to you by my new laptop. I went for the 15.2″ Apple PowerBook with the back-lit keyboard. I got a pretty nice deal (as nice a deal one gets from Apple) with a free RAM upgrade, free printer, and a little more than $100 off their normal educational prices. It was still pretty expensive compared to a PC, but most Apple owners would probably tell me never to compare an Apple to a PC.
The shipping was pretty damn fast— especially considering I had it shipped with their free shipping rate. I thought it would take a long time when I checked the tracking system and it said it had left from China in the early AM of June 3rd. But then I got it before noon on June 4th!
Speaking of shipping, the FedEx website tracking was actually useful. Unlike some OTHER crap, where they only tell you when it left and when it was delivered (Yeah, thanks a lot).
Anyway, time to get used to my new productivity-machine. Expect a new design in the future— to be done 100% with this laptop. I plan to use my PowerBook for work, so I might as well have a nice “practice” run with it.
