What’s the deal?

Thursday, April 29th, 2004 (4 years, 5 months ago)

The last time I bought something from Barnes and Noble (in store), they allowed me to use more than one gift card, but they only allow you to use one gift card when ordering online. So now I have a charge on my credit card for three dollars… I feel like a modern version of that stereotypical old lady who writes a check for a ninety-nine cent expense. And I blame Barnes and Noble’s online order process.

They’ll pay for this. But I’ll be nice and allow them to use more than one Official Online Fame Gift Card when they pay… (Yeah, I sell gift cards now. True story.)

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

Monday, April 26th, 2004 (4 years, 5 months ago)

Behind the scenes: I keep a small list of things I want to eventually write about on this website, but I only write down a little note that sums up the whole post. Sometimes the note is a short phrase or a paragraph and sometimes it’s just one word.

So I was skimming through it this morning and read this: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. And that’s all I wrote…

It’s probably been a month or two since I wrote that word down in my notes, so I kind of forgot what I was going to write that involved hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, but you can be sure it would have been a damn good post.

Now I’ll just sit back while people go and look up the word…

I went to In-N-Out Burger yesterday with my sister and they had this paper placemat that was advertising Child Abuse Prevention Month. In addition to giving them a few dollars from the change I got back, I’m going to do my part by not abusing a child this month.

Spelling mistaches

Saturday, April 24th, 2004 (4 years, 5 months ago)

A week ago, I ditched Internet Explorer and Outlook as my default web browser and email program and switched to Firefox and Thunderbird. That doesn’t have a whole lot to do with this post, but it is worth mentioning that these programs rock (and for those who like hip-hop: these programs rap).

So anyway, I enabled the spell check on my new email program and I’ve had to add some words to the default dictionary so it doesn’t keep notifying me of spelling mistakes. Here’s a list of words that I don’t think I should have had to enter into the list by myself:

  • HTML, XHTML (I really thought at least “HTML” would have been in there)
  • WTF (like this needs an explanation)
  • CSI (this show should have been put in the dictionary when it debuted four seasons ago)
  • Barenaked (as in Barenaked Ladies)
  • Poopfux (just because)

My name’s Buck…

The second volume of Kill Bill is finally here. I guess a lot of people will be heading to the theatres this weekend. I’ll be watching it in about two weeks when my girlfriend flies in. (Who says romance is dead?)

I wonder how DVD sales of Kill Bill: Volume 1 are doing. It seems like many people (myself included) are saving their money for when Volume 2 is released on DVD and the studios get around to making the Kill Bill: Super Sexy Special Edition Ultra 100% DVD.

I would think that if the movie studios really wanted to profit off these DVD sales, they could have included something useful on the first release of Kill Bill: Volume 1. But there’s close to no extra features on it! People who are expecting another (better) release of the DVDs just can’t justify purchasing the first release. Have a contest, throw in some scandalous pictures, autograph it, or anything!

The thought of buying the DVD entered my mind for about two seconds and then it was gone. And not (just) because I forget about stuff…
