Burnin’ up

Friday, December 26th, 2003 (4 years, 8 months ago)

I keep burning myself because of food. From touching the pan while cooking something in the oven, to spilling gravy on my hand, I’m getting burned on a daily basis. I’m starting to wish I didn’t hate cold food…

Christmas special

Thursday, December 25th, 2003 (4 years, 8 months ago)

Bah humbug! You’ll get no special Christmas post from me!

I was watching some TV this morning and on one channel, there was just a video feed of a fireplace with Christmas music playing in the background. And this wasn’t just some five minute show— I came back to the channel an hour or two later, to see another angle of the fireplace and a different Christmas song playing in the background.

I think of all the television shows that were cancelled. I liked to watch Newsradio (and still do), Off Centre, John Doe, etc. But they lost out to some mofo video of a fireplace?!

I hate television networks. Bah humbug!

Singled out

Wednesday, December 17th, 2003 (4 years, 8 months ago)

For those that think Hov’ fingers bling bling’n
Either haven’t heard the album or they don’t know english
They only know what the single is, and singled that out
to be the meaning of what he’s about

(From Jay-Z’s “The Bounce”). Rap music isn’t all about hot chicks and jewelry and money. Listen to the rest of the artist’s album before you say they suck or they ONLY rap about a certain thing.

Jay-Z has released at least nine full albums and that doesn’t even include all the songs that he’s been featured in with other artists. How can he make that many songs all about Girls, Girls, Girls?

Since I’m usually asking for suggestions for good music or where to find this/that, I’ll provide a good song for you to listen to:

“Meet the Parents” by Jay-Z. It’s from the 2nd disc of his Blueprint 2 CD and he’s telling a story about a kid and his mother. Super quick summary: The mother has a one night stand with a man, who left her pregnant and then fourteen years later, her son is now a gangster (just like his father, who he’s only seen as an infant). One night, the boy stops his father because he’s walking on his territory, and they pull out guns on each other.

Still C.H.R.I.S.

I’m trying my hardest not to change. I still get my hair cut at the same place, even though it’s totally out of my way. The same goes for (great) Chinese food.

I shopped around at about ten internet stores and three retail stores to find the same brand of shoes that I’ve been wearing for years (Vans Graph in navy blue color, for those who wanna be like me).

I’m still ‘blogging— about four or five years now. I still listen to all sorts of music, with Eminem still on top for the best lyrics, in my opinion. And I still listen to Barenaked Ladies when I design or want to be creative.

And to freeze time just a little bit more, I’m presenting a website which was a feature on an old version of Online Fame: Quotes, starring Chris Rhee.

Sorry, I have to do it:
I’m representin for them gangstas all across the world
(Still) Hittin’ them corners on the low-low’s girl

Kill Bill (if guy behind me is named Bill)

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003 (4 years, 8 months ago)

People in theaters can be real annoying. In fact, the entire theater experience is something I’m beginning to hate. I went to go watch Kill Bill with my girlfriend and some guy who was high (or at least I hope he was) was laughing like a pothead at the stupidest things. If you don’t know what “laughing like a pothead” sounds like… Too bad!

Also, these people behind us were carrying on their own conversation during the movie and one guy had this stupid chuckle that was driving me insane.

I’d rather watch a DVD release at home in peace and possibly eat popcorn that doesn’t cost twenty dollars than go to a dark theater full of people who were cursed with annoying laughs.

Although, I doubt I’ll ever see the day where big blockbuster movies are released onto DVD (even for renting-only purposes) the same time they’re released in theaters. Because that would mean something actually went how I wanted it to.
