Cra-z-boy

Tuesday, September 16th, 2003 (5 years, 2 months ago)

You’ve probably heard about the kids who shot up a highway to imitate Grand Theft Auto by now. Blaming the event solely on video games is just stupid. Other than parents actually giving a damn about what their kids do, there are two other factors which come into play: craziness and accessibility.

I’ll explain briefly: I like chess and I’ve recently been playing it a lot with my girlfriend (I’m a hopeless romantic, I know). But I don’t go around at night trying to kill kings and queens with my bishops. Why you ask? 1: I’m not fucking crazy and 2: I don’t have super easy access to bishops, rooks or knights whenever I please. It’s not like I can buy them at any pawn shop. (Couldn’t resist…)

Criminal food chain

Saturday, September 13th, 2003 (5 years, 2 months ago)

Everyone’s posting about how the RIAA has sued 216 people, including the mother of a twelve year old girl. And how the law should go after the drug dealers and other criminals that cause more damage— which is the same response you’d get from: jay-walkers, traffic violators, and recreational drug users.

Drug dealers will say to go after murderers and rapists. So in many people’s eyes the only crime that should be a punishable offense is being a serial rapist who kills his/her victims. But I’m sure they have some sort of criminal genre to talk about, also. Oh, I know: how about the creators of these crap-ass reality shows? Should be able to pinch them for some sort of pollution violation…

The MAN

Friday, September 5th, 2003 (5 years, 2 months ago)

Follow me carefully, this post actually goes somewhere: The government has technology that can physically lift off information that has been on your hard drive disk. A lot of people know by now that when you delete something through your recycle bin, it can easily be recovered because it’s not actually deleted off of your hard drive, just moved (basically).

So new software was created to delete files and attempt to get rid of all traces of ever having those files on your computer. It attempts to overwrite the data of that file many times— maybe 10, 20, or even 30 times. Even after 30 or more overwrites, the government can physically lift off bits of information.

So let’s say you take it to the next level and attempt to physically damage your disk. There are reports (and I’ve heard about a documentary on the Discovery channel about it) where the government has been able to retrieve data from hard drives that were underwater, burned, hammered, ripped, etc.

Obviously, the MAN is quite powerful. So why does it take weeks for me to receive my damn mail! Why isn’t the MAIL MAN as powerful?! Think about THAT.

Websites

If you want to read about lots of happenings in the kitchens of restaurants (from the bad to the ugly), check out: HowHungry.com and go to the stories section.

If you visited this site back when I had a Writings section where I posted some of my rhymes and you feel like you’re missing out… Visit: Rhymes by Chris Rhee.

I’ve been pretty busy doing stuff for my company. And now I’ve made a profit, after paying all the registration fees and taxes, so I’m pretty happy about that. Now the next step would be to make a lot of profit… Need a web designer?
